“Mother Moose” from my Alaskan winter expedition “Drifting Snow” Swirling frost dances through the Alaskan forest and veils Mother Moose in winter’s embrace. Slowly she makes her way to her nearby calf, tucked away safely within the snow laden trees.

A puffin locks eyes with the lens, its beak packed with shimmering fish from the sea. This close encounter shows the bird’s remarkable fishing skill and intensity in a single glance.

A closer look at an Atlantic puffin in late March, captured during its seasonal shift, where the beak already shows vivid color while the face still carries darker tones of winter plumage.

In the Arctic, survival depends on constant awareness. These portraits capture rare moments when that vigilance turns outward – when the fox meets the viewer directly. Eye contact transforms distance into connection, revealing curiosity, tension, and presence within a harsh and fragile environment.

“Unblinking” is a series of intimate puffin portraits centered on direct eye contact and presence. Each image captures a fleeting moment of acknowledgement, where the bird turns toward the viewer. Subtle shifts in light and posture reveal individuality, transforming observation into a quiet, immediate connection.
